The Climbing Barn
Barn 7th Anniversary Comp PDF Print E-mail
Written by Paul Bruyere

A good vibe filled the air as the competitors trickled into the Climbing Barn early on Saturday morning. Eyes shot straight up and all around as each person, as they walked in, scoped out all the new route set for them. 40 climbers started off the day on their first route, battling it out against their first challenge, all done with friendly camaraderie and support for their fellow climbers.

The qualifying rounds flew by as climber where left with the option of taking the wippers or sending! Guys and girls alike, displayed phenomenal effort and commitment to each route set for them. Semis saw a new energy from the climbers, committed dino’s, big cutlooses, and some impressive body-tensioning screams pleased the crowds while the competitors psyched themselves up for their turn.

The finalists ripped it outta the bag on their last route, displaying some of the best climbing of the day, the finalists swung in all directions through the roof; or clung on, grip after grip, on their super crimpy sequences.

The comp was a great success, big moves, big roofs, and big falls, the crowd loved every entertaining second of it. In the end, a fine display of some great climbing and serious commitment gave us our finalists in each category

Special thanks must go out to the route setters and judges that help before and during the competition, as well as our sponsors: 5.10, So-ill, Edelrid and Mad rock who provided great prizes.
